A witness reported seeing several military pickup trucks carrying armed security forces and a machine gun-mounted armoured carrier deployed around the central administrative district of Kaloum, Reuters news agency reported. The presidential palace is also located in Kaloum. A security detail made up of police officers and special forces blocked access to the road leading to the prison on Tuesday morning, an AFP news agency journalist reported. An armoured vehicle belonging to the special forces was also visible in front of the prison.
Gunfire was reportedly heard near Venezuela's Presidential Palace on Monday evening, just days after President Donald Trump attacked the country's capital and captured Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro and his wife. According to CNN, gunfire was heard in Venezuela's capital Caracas near the Miraflores Palace, while what appeared to be lights from drones and anti-aircraft fire could be seen in the night sky.
An altercation involving students and adults near a school Monday afternoon ended with gunfire, police said. Nobody was injured, but a building at the Sylvester Greenwood Academy in the 800 block of Chanslor Avenue was damaged. In a statement, police said somebody fired at least one shot after the confrontation happened. Police did not say what caused the acrimony. Officers locked down the school and a neighboring Leadership Public School campus while securing the area.
Port Authority police are investigating a vehicle collision that ended with gunfire just outside JFK Airport on Tuesday. According to authorities, the incident unfolded just before 5 a.m. on Dec. 16 on the southbound Van Wyck Expressway near the entrance to the international airport, where two vehicles collided. This resulted in a road rage dispute that saw several shots being fired. While police reported that no one was injured in the gunfire, a vehicle was struck by a bullet.
Evidence of gunfire was found at the scene of a multi-vehicle crash in North York Sunday morning, said Toronto police. Officers responded to a crash at the Steeles Avenue West and Islington Avenue intersection around 6:24 a.m. Sunday, said Toronto police on social media. Despite there being evidence of gunfire, no shooting victims have been located at this time. A female driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital.
SAN PABLO - Two people, one of them a 16-year-old high school student, were arrested Tuesday after gunfire that occurred about a block from an elementary school, police said. The teen that police arrested was a student at Richmond High, according to a statement from police spokesperson Peggy Chou. She added that the other person arrested was 22-year-old man. Officers responded about 9:40 a.m. to the area of 20th Street and Sanford Avenue, near Downer Elementary School.
