Millions and millions of people flock to London for its Christmas markets. Most head for the world-famous Winter Wonderland at Hyde Park, the highly Instagrammable Covent Garden Christmas Market or the huge Leicester Square Christmas Market. But they're far from the only brilliant Christmas markets in the city. Now that it's December, London is full to the brim with sparkling huts and marquees selling glühwein, mince pies and all sorts of artisanal gems.
Within moments of being seated, however, another question arose: how many miles do you need to run to counteract the aftereffects of Kudu's bread with curried butter, which comes melted, glossy and with gently fried curried leaves? Grab hunks of this warm bread and stuff them greedily into your mouth. Westminster Magistrates' Court is closed and homes in Marylebone evacuated a burst water main flooded a nearby central London street. Footage posted online shows the moment thousands of gallons of water spilled pout leaving roads completely submerged. Eight fire engines and around 60 firefighters have been dealing with flooding across the area around Enford Street, the London Fire Brigade said.
With The Pelican in Notting Hill, The Bull in Charlbury, The Hero in Maida Vale and The Fat Badger on Golborne Road, Public House Group has amassed quite the collection, and now another new addition is on the way. The Hart, opening on the corner of Chiltern Street and Blandford Street in Marylebone, is named after the family who ran an establishment on the same spot back in the 1840s. It'll be in the same vein as the other sites in the group - that means British beers at the bar and comforting dishes in the dining room.
Junsei is a small Japanese restaurant in Marylebone, specialising in yakatori. The yakatori grill is long and narrow so that small skewers can rest above the white-hot binchotan, a high-quality lump charcoal, without burning. The skill of the griller and the quality of the produce combine to provide a most satisfying series of small plates that encompass meat, fish, chicken and vegetables.
