This was first evident when he was at Capital One Arena for the Caps' 2-0 shutout win over the Columbus Blue Jackets.
#Caps Ryan Leonard sustained a shoulder injury during the game on Dec. 5 in Anaheim. Based on the injury and the expected course of rehabilitation, his projected recovery time is approximately 3-4 weeks.

That's the reason why I decided not to make a call: would I go to Turin or not earlier, because I wanted to see how the matches go, how I react, he told reporters. After yesterday's [Friday] match, I was hoping that it was not going to flare up. But then today, even before the match, it was not great. I had to take all the strong medications to be able to play the match.

But the 33-year-old returned for a third stint with the Dodgers organization with a long injury history. That wound up surfacing after Stewart made just four appearances for the Dodgers before going on the 15-day injured list due to right shoulder inflammation. There was optimism from Stewart and the Dodgers that his condition wasn't too severe and it would lend to a relatively quick recovery. Nevertheless, he wasn't projected to return until September.
Twins starter David Festa is done for the season after suffering a setback while working back from a shoulder injury, relays Bobby Nightengale of The Minnesota Star-Tribune. Festa is headed for a consultation with noted orthopedist Dr. Keith Meister. The 25-year-old Festa has been out since the middle of July. Minnesota sent him to Triple-A St. Paul for a rehab start on August 28. Festa struck out five over 2 2/3 scoreless innings. It seems he came out of the appearance with renewed shoulder pain. That'll shut him down for the year. The Twins will hope there's nothing structurally amiss that'll impact his availability for 2026.
It was the 22-year-old's first career retirement and came as he led by two sets to one before disaster struck late in the third. After landing heavily on his left arm while stretching for a ball, Shelton began to grimace and told his father and coach, Bryan: I did something to my shoulder. I don't know what it is. Despite a mid-set visit from the physio and a tactical shift that saw him attempt 13 serve-and-volley plays in the fourth set alone,
"I used this word unintentionally, just to make it very clear. There was no message. There was no hidden agenda. I fully understood and understand that it's my responsibility that I created these headlines. I am sorry for the upset and I am sorry for the headlines I created. I am experienced enough and should've known better, I should've done better. I thought I had a little more credit with you guys [media] that I do all this in my second language. I did it the morning after a loss, with not a lot of sleep, in a live interview, and I used the wrong word. Again, it's my responsibility."

How long the injury ultimately sidelines Polk, and if he could potentially return at some point later in the season, will be contingent on what doctors find in surgery, a source said.
Unfortunately, I've been struggling with a shoulder injury for the last 14 months now, I had a surgery in January, tried my best this year to come back, took multiple injections, but unfortunately, we've reached a point where we're kind of out of options medically. For me, the club is, and has been, an absolutely massive part of my life for a long time and it will be for a long time. I don't think you ever really do properly leave this place.
