Bayern Munich has officially acquired defender Jonathan Tah on a free transfer from Bayer Leverkusen, where he spent a decade. The 29-year-old Germany international has signed a four-year contract and expressed his excitement about joining Bayern, aiming for team success and multiple trophies. Previously with Leverkusen, Tah was part of a squad that achieved an unbeaten Bundesliga and German Cup double in the 2023-24 season. Bayern sees him as a valuable addition to their defensive lineup as they continue to compete at high levels in domestic and European football.
"I'm very happy to be at Bayern. I want to take on responsibility here and work hard every day so that we're successful as a team and win lots of trophies together."
"In Tah, we've acquired a player with international experience and quality who won't need much time to establish himself in our defence," said Bayern sporting director Christoph Freund.
