Iván Romeo achieved a remarkable victory on stage 3 of the Critérium du Dauphiné, marking Movistar's first WorldTour win since January. Timing his attack perfectly 6 km before the finish in Charantonnay, Romeo outpaced leading competitors, including Mathieu van der Poel. Starting the day just seconds behind the leader, the 21-year-old now holds the overall lead, finishing 1:08 ahead of top riders like Tadej Pogačar and Jonas Vingegaard. His victory reinforces his status after being the under-23 world champion in the time trial, giving him confidence to maintain the lead.
Iván Romeo claimed the biggest win of his young career and Movistar's first at WorldTour level since January on stage 3 of the Critérium du Dauphiné.
Romeo's late move came out of the remnants of the early breakaway on stage 3, with the likes of Mathieu van der Poel unable to reel him back.
