Alex Bregman of the Red Sox is progressing in his recovery from a quad strain, having resumed hitting and set to start fielding. Manager Alex Cora has indicated it’s unlikely Bregman will return before the All-Star break, specifically targeting a return on July 18 against the Chicago Cubs. Meanwhile, Tanner Houck is also in recovery from a strain but has struggled significantly in his rehab assignments, raising concerns about his performance metrics including an 8.04 ERA prior to his injury.
"He's progressing very well. No timetable yet. I don't think he's pushing faster than what he can. I think he's pushing because he feels good," said Cora.
Manager Alex Cora stated, "So we just have to be patient and be smart about it, and whenever he's ready, he's ready," indicating a cautious approach to Bregman's recovery.
Despite Bregman's optimism about a potential return before the All-Star break, Cora emphasized that a return on July 18 against the Cubs is more realistic.
Tanner Houck has struggled in his recovery from a right flexor pronator strain, posting a troubling 16.88 ERA in his rehab outings for the Worcester Red Sox.
