Cold weather, hot wings: Bay Ridge heats up winter with Wing Wars * Brooklyn Paper
"Bay Ridge has the most amazing restaurants and wings,"
"people go from stop to stop, get one wing and take notes."
"At the Bean Post, we have over 40 wings available day and night,"
Bay Ridge held a Wing Wars chicken wing crawl on Jan. 24 that drew hundreds of residents to Fifth Avenue to sample wings and vote for favorites. Eighteen local restaurants and FDNY firehouses participated, and ticket sales supported the Bay Ridge Fifth Avenue BID, Merchants of Third Avenue and the FDNY Lt. Mark Dziemian Children's Scholarship Fund. Participants picked up beanies and tasting tickets at the Bean Post Pub before visiting stops that ranged from longtime fixtures to newer venues. A hop-on, hop-off shuttle kept the route accessible and family-friendly. FDNY involvement included firehouse participation and a 9/11 25th anniversary ambulance tribute.
