Magnitude 3.5 earthquake in Rialto rattles Inland Empire

Rialto experienced a magnitude 3.5 earthquake on Tuesday at 4:54 p.m. The quake was located one mile from Fontana and at a depth of 3.6 miles. Residents in the Inland Empire and even as far south as San Clemente reported weak shaking. Over the last 10 days, five earthquakes of magnitude 3.0 or greater have been recorded in the region. Annually, California and Nevada see an average of 234 earthquakes ranging from magnitudes of 3.0 to 4.0.
