Doug Miller reflects on 15 Years at CSGA, calls for action in Canada's seed industry
""Seed is the start of so many value chains,""
""a nice kind of cherry on top""
""unfinished business,""
""one of the biggest files... in the last 30 years,""
Doug Miller is stepping down as executive director of the Canadian Seed Growers' Association after 15 years. He led digitization of CSGA operations from paper to a fully digital model and supported broader reforms including contributions to seed regulatory modernization (SRM). Under his leadership CSGA received a national governance award. Two major unfinished priorities remain: positioning CSGA to administer a proposed digital single-window seed certification system under SRM, and securing sustainable public plant-breeding funding to prevent an innovation shortfall amid retirements, research station closures, and reduced trial-site investment.
