Colson Montgomery, the Chicago White Sox shortstop prospect, faced another challenge in his season when he was hit on the hand, leading to soreness but avoiding an injured list stint. Returning to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights, he impressed with two home runs in a game, marking a successful comeback. Over his last eight games, he has demonstrated improved performance, including a .276 batting average. General manager Chris Getz is evaluating Montgomery’s readiness for the major leagues, focusing on quality at-bats over immediate results.
On the same night as his injury, Montgomery slugged two home runs for the second time in an eight-game stretch.
Montgomery is 16-for-58 (.276) with five doubles, four home runs, 10 RBI, seven walks and 15 strikeouts.
It's really about getting him in the position where we feel like he can have quality at-bats up here.
We hope to minimize the swelling and hope to get him back in the lineup.
