The Chicago White Sox have optioned struggling first baseman Andrew Vaughn to Triple-A Charlotte as he seeks to improve his performance. Vaughn has had a tough season, hitting just .189 with 5 home runs and 19 RBIs in 48 games, a stark contrast to his 2022 where he hit .246 with 19 home runs and 70 RBIs. The team also reinstated Andrew Benintendi and Mike Tauchman from injury as part of their roster changes ahead of their game against the Texas Rangers, while Tim Elko was also sent back to the minors after a brief stint.
"He's a guy that needs to drive the baseball," general manager Chris Getz said. "Can drive the baseball. So, I think he's actually looking forward to taking a step back, slowing things down."
Elko was 5 for 31 with three homers and five RBIs over 10 games after being called up from Charlotte on May 10.
