Luis Robert Jr. has returned to the lineup for the Chicago White Sox after recovering from adductor soreness. He played as the designated hitter against the Cubs, as the initial evaluation deemed him unfit for center field. Manager Will Venable noted Robert's insistence to contribute with his bat. The White Sox are rebuilding and Robert’s performance is critical, especially with a potential trade deadline approaching. He has recently begun a nine-game hitting streak but has had a struggling season overall, contributing with a .206 batting average and 10 homers in 84 games.
"The initial evaluation, he came in feeling better but still not in a spot where he could get out there in center field," manager Will Venable said. "We wanted to keep him plugged in and give him the opportunity to run around more, and he did."
"He's going to go out there and compete and play the right way, and if he's not able to do that, we wouldn't have him out there," Venable said. "At the same time, I'm probably not going to ask him to steal third base."
