"Some TikTok users have reported seeing a troubling product in the last few days: T-shirts for sale on TikTok Shop that are an antisemitic parody of the Jaws movie poster. In the image printed on the shirts, the shark has been transformed into a human nose, the swimmer at the surface of the water is instead a $100 bill, and "Jaws" has been edited to read "Jews," propagating antisemitic stereotypes of Jewish people as money hungry."
"Prices range between $8.99 and $15, and other than the offensive design, the listings are just like any other drop-shipped graphic T-shirt: "This soft and comfy 100% cotton tee is your new everyday essential," one listing reads. They make no mention of the hateful rhetoric emblazoned on the product; on the infinite scroll of contemporary online shopping, it is simply "Jews Funny Shirt, Cool Meme Graphic Shirt, Jaws Parody Humorous Tee.""
TikTok Shop listings circulated T-shirts depicting an antisemitic parody of the Jaws poster, replacing the shark with a human nose, the swimmer with a $100 bill, and 'Jaws' with 'Jews.' The design propagates stereotypes of Jewish people as money-hungry. Multiple storefronts, some in the US and others in China, offered the shirts at prices from $8.99 to $15. Product pages described the tees as typical drop-shipped graphic shirts and used generic copy while omitting any mention of the hateful content. TikTok removed the listings after they were flagged.
