Charlton Athletic has signed experienced goalkeeper Dean Bouzanis on a short-term contract until the season's end after he left Reading. Bouzanis, 34, previously started his career at Liverpool and has played for teams in Greece, Australia, and the Netherlands. Following an injury to Ashley Maynard-Brewer, manager Nathan Jones opted to bring in Bouzanis, who has trained with the team for a month. He is expected to enhance competition within the goalkeeping squad and contribute significantly with his extensive experience.
Dean's been training with us now for the last month following the injury to Ashley [Maynard-Brewer]. With the precarious nature of the emergency loan market, we felt it was better to sign someone who we've had in the environment and Dean's done very well since coming here.
He's got real good experience, he's fitted in with the group really well and he provides real good competition for what is already a good goalkeeping department.
