Silvia Venturini Fendi On a Century of Fendi
"I always see double. I see it everywhere,"
"I understood immediately that something exceptional was happening,"
"So, in the afternoon, instead of doing my homework - because I was stupid at the time - I would run to the atelier."
At the Fendi centenary show in Milan, performers opened a recreated 1960s Via Borgognona atelier door and presented doubles to evoke heritage and continuity. Two children wore reimagined 1967 outfits originally designed by Karl Lagerfeld, mirroring a moment when six-year-old Silvia Venturini Fendi was chosen to walk in a show. The 2025 versions were modelled by Silvia's relative twins, reinforcing familial continuity. Fendi adopted Janus, the two-faced god, as an emblem of duality, transitions and forward momentum. Silvia recognised her vocation at that early moment and spent her career at Fendi, working with Lagerfeld and later Kim Jones, and now leads the family firm.
