New SEND school opens in Sutton providing over 240 places

Carew Academy, now located in a purpose-built facility, caters to students aged 7 to 19 and significantly expands access to specialist education in Sutton. The new site, which replaces the previous location, offers diverse learning environments for subjects like art, music, and ICT, in addition to on-site therapeutic services. As the need for SEND schooling grows, this initiative, funded by the Department for Education and Sutton Council, aims to improve educational support for children with disabilities. The Academy has received an 'Outstanding' Ofsted rating, affirming its quality in meeting complex learning needs.
The new Carew Academy is a fantastic purpose-built school that will mean our children and young people get the very best education in an environment completely tailored to meet their needs.
The recent effort to boost SEND schooling in the borough was funded by the Department for Education, with Sutton Council contributing 145,000 toward the creation of three outdoor play areas.
