Measurement Startup HyphaMetrics Cleared In Nielsen Patent Infringement Lawsuit By Nielsen | AdExchanger
Briefly

HyphaMetrics, a measurement startup, won a federal jury trial against Nielsen, which had accused it of patent infringement. Nielsen now contemplates an appeal, having claimed that HyphaMetrics misled clients about its product offerings. Despite the lawsuit, HyphaMetrics asserts it has a valid business model and plans to create a media usage audience panel through its coreMeter device. This device tracks media consumption using data from panelists’ HDMI feeds, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
According to Nielsen's statement, it originally filed suit because the product that HyphaMetrics marketed, promised and said it sold is something we believed infringed Nielsen's patents.
HyphaMetrics, which launched in late 2020 with $2 million in seed funding, is attempting to build an audience panel of 5,000 households using data collected by a router-like device.
