The Los Angeles Dodgers made roster changes by recalling pitcher Matt Sauer from Triple-A Oklahoma City while designating José Ureña for assignment just a week after signing him. Ureña was brought in to bolster the bullpen and pitched three innings with a 4.50 ERA. Meanwhile, Sauer returns for the fourth time this season displaying a solid 3.05 ERA in 20.2 innings. Following the recent adjustments, Sauer is expected to play a significant role in upcoming games, thanks to his promising performance.
"He is here for length, and he's a Major League pitcher, and with where we're at, things are kind of moving and changing, so we'll see how he performs," Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said when Urena was signed.
The right-hander has thrown 20.2 innings for the Dodgers, posting a 3.05 ERA and 4.13 FIP with a 0.92 WHIP, 16.7% strikeout rate and 3.8% walk rate in his opportunities this year.
