Jacob A. Perrone, a lawyer in East Lansing, named his new firm Dragon Lawyers and chose a purple dragon in a business suit as its logo symbolizing aggressive representation. However, federal magistrate judge Ray Kent criticized the logo as childish and disruptive. Consequently, he dismissed a lawsuit Mr. Perrone filed for an inmate against jail officials, ordering the plaintiff to refile without the dragon logo, which he deemed inappropriate for court documents, reinforcing that a court should maintain decorum.
The Court is not a cartoon. The use of this dragon cartoon logo is not only distracting, it is juvenile and impertinent.
Judge Kent ordered that Jane Doe No. 2 must refile her lawsuit without the cartoon dragon and refrain from submitting other documents with distracting content.
