Sutton football team crowned Club of the Year as members lose more than 83 stone

The Sutton MAN v FAT team recently secured a national title at the MAN v FAT Football Awards, recognizing their commitment to health and fitness through football. Based in Sutton, the club has 72 members who collectively lost over 83 stone in a year. Joe Hemmingsley, a regional co-ordinator, highlighted the resilience and community spirit of the team, which has flourished despite coaching changes. Head coach Nicola Stearn emphasized the camaraderie and support among players, making it a welcoming environment for individuals and their families while celebrating personal milestones.
The whole club look to support each other as much as possible, with the community champion, who is a qualified GP, delivering wellness check-ins.
It's an evening that everyone looks forward to, the banter, the camaraderie, the support. It's a place where not only men are welcome, but also a club where players' families are welcome too.
