Renate Nyborg's Meeno wants to become the Duolingo of dating
Briefly

Renate Nyborg, the former CEO of Tinder, has shifted her startup Meeno's focus to help men engage romantically with women through voice-based AI interactions. Originally designed to assist with relationship issues, Meeno's new model allows users to complete voice surveys and simulate conversations. This pivot comes amidst rising concerns about male loneliness, with Nyborg emphasizing the urgency for solutions. Recent advancements in AI technologies have reduced feedback time significantly. Meeno intends to monetize this service while raising further investments to expand its offerings.
"[Male loneliness] is a problem that's been getting worse for 30 years," Nyborg tells Fast Company. "I never thought that this was something we could just go and snap our fingers and [fix]."
The first iteration of Meeno, Nyborg says, allowed the company to prove that it could build something that appealed to men.
Users, she says, could get benefits within minutes instead of over three to four weeks thanks to the OpenAI advancements.
As part of its pivot, Meeno is raising a seed extension, with $2.7 million committed in the past few weeks.
