"The sad thing is many of these businesses can't get insurance due to persistent flooding and will have to pay for the damage out of their own pockets during a cost-of-living crisis,"
"We are urging the public to stay well clear of Enniscorthy Quays as we work with Wexford County Council and local authorities to ensure public safety in the area,"
"devastated by the damage"
Severe flooding in County Wexford followed Storm Chandra, causing multiple road closures and widespread damage. Civil Defence members have been assisting residents on Island Road in Enniscorthy as homeowners move belongings to second floors to escape rising water. Business owners along Enniscorthy quays report major damage and many cannot obtain insurance because of persistent flooding, forcing them to cover repairs amid a cost-of-living crisis. Both Enniscorthy bridges are closed and GardaĆ have advised the public to avoid the area while they coordinate with Wexford County Council and other local authorities to ensure public safety.
