The New York Beef Council, a non-profit organization funded by the National Beef Checkoff Program, is conducting its 10th annual competition to find the best burger in New York State. Nominations are being accepted through March 1. To qualify, burgers must contain 100% beef patties served on bread such as buns, biscuits, focaccia, or tortillas, with spices and vegetables optionally added to the patty. Any combination of condiments, sauces, cheeses, and toppings is permitted. Last year's winner, The Butcher's Son Corning, earned a record-breaking score of 99.24% for their Ghost Burger, made with grass-fed beef patties, candied jalapeños, jalapeño basil pickles, provolone cheese, and BBQ sauce.
