A meditative garden by Lily Kwong has taken root in Madison Square Park
Briefly

Madison Square Park has introduced the Gardens of Renewal, a meditative spiral pathway created by artist Lily Kwong. This inviting space encourages reflection and highlights the urgency of climate change through native plant species. Open until Labor Day, the garden features benches for rest, a QR code for a guided meditation, and a playlist by DJ Fly Hendrix. Additionally, a Children's Garden on Sparrow Lawn offers a multi-functional area with a library and play structures, fostering community connection in NYC's urban environment.
Though meant to provide an important oasis for rest and reflection within the dense urban landscape of New York City, the garden also creates a space for communal exchange, where our connection to the people and world around us can be celebrated.
The Meditation Garden prompts each of us to consider what is at stake and all that we stand to lose as a result of climate change.
