Banksy's iconic heart-shaped balloon adorned a Brooklyn warehouse's wall, instigating an intriguing graffiti exchange that showcases New York's street art spirit. Following its debut in 2013, various anonymous artists graffiti-tagged the wall, culminating in phrases that include 'Omar NYC'. The preserved wall, now named 'Battle to Survive a Broken Heart', is being auctioned, with proceeds partly benefiting the American Heart Association in memory of warehouse owner Vassilios Georgiadis. Maria Georgiadis reflects on her father's love for the art, adding a personal touch to its significance.
The preserved wall, dubbed 'Battle to Survive a Broken Heart,' will be going up for sale May 21 at Guernsey's, the New York auction house.
The apparent graffiti battle didn't end there. Another tagger also attempted to leave his mark but was stymied by security guards.
