Bank of New York Mellon has instructed employees to return to the office four days a week by September 2, increasing from the previous three-day requirement. The memo from BNY's executive committee stressed the importance of in-person collaboration for learning and efficiency, while also expressing a commitment to maintaining a degree of flexibility with one remote work day. Executives highlighted that better response times and client service are achieved through in-person interactions.
"We believe that it is important that all of us spend more time together working, leading and learning from each other," BNY's leaders wrote in the memo.
"Occasional remote work can be effective, but in person we can respond more quickly to dynamic, fast-paced financial markets and better serve our clients," BNY executives wrote.
