Flames extended upward, running vertically from the third through sixth floors and into the cockloft, raising concerns about rapid spread and structural damage. Battalion 57 transmitted a second alarm and Division 11 later transmitted a third alarm to rotate units. More than 170 members used four hoselines, contended with snow-covered and frozen hydrants, and brought the fire under control at 10:30 p.m. The Fire Marshal will determine the cause.
