Heavy Storms Bring Flash Flooding Risk To NYC, Forecasters Say

New York City is preparing for heavy rain, thunderstorms, and potential flash flooding as a hot, humid air mass moves into the area. The National Weather Service issued a Flood Watch for Monday afternoon and evening, with predicted rainfall of 1 to 3 inches in some regions. Between 2 p.m. and midnight, the city may see up to two inches of rain per hour. While the storms are expected to taper off after midnight, unsettled weather with chances of rain and thunderstorms is forecasted through Friday.

Forecast predicts a 50 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Monday, with a high near 84, and a 60 percent chance of precipitation Monday night.
