
"A suspect arrested for a bizarre burglary in a Brooklyn apartment building is believed to be the serial slasher who then went on to attack three strangers at random over the next 24 hours, police sources said Monday. He has not yet been charged with the slashings but sources say he had a kitchen knife on him when he was arrested that cops believe was used in all three slashings."
"Head allegedly entered an apartment building without permission on New York Ave. near Newkirk Ave. in Flatbush about 5 a.m. Saturday. He damaged a washer and dryer and set fire to some items of clothing before running off, police say. "You could see the smoke coming from the laundry area, it was everywhere in the building," said one resident who lives in the building. "People break in, hang out and do drugs," said a 32-year-old construction worker who lives in the building. He declined to give his name. Just 90 minutes later he allegedly slashed a a 37-year-old man without warning on the left side of the face on a Manhattan-bound Q train, police said."
A 27-year-old man, identified as living in Coney Island, was arrested and charged with burglary, trespass and criminal mischief after a weekend incident in Flatbush. He allegedly entered a building early Saturday, damaged laundry machines and set fire to clothing. Residents reported smoke in the building and complained about break-ins and drug activity. Ninety minutes after the burglary, a 37-year-old man was slashed on a Manhattan-bound Q train; the victim alerted police after exiting. Police later released surveillance photos and believe the suspect had a kitchen knife used in three random facial slashings over 24 hours.
