Mike Sullivan out as Penguins coach, perhaps in as Rangers coach?
Briefly

With Mike Sullivan's recent availability following his departure from the Pittsburgh Penguins, the New York Rangers president Chris Drury may finally fulfill his long-held desire to hire Sullivan as head coach. Drury previously sought Sullivan two years ago, but the timing did not align due to Sullivan's ongoing role with the Penguins, who have failed to reach the playoffs in recent seasons. After Drury's recent firing of coach Peter Laviolette, he now has the opportunity to secure Sullivan, a highly regarded candidate, which would significantly bolster the Rangers' efforts to become Stanley Cup contenders once again.
It's been widely assumed, for years now, that if he ever became available, Mike Sullivan would be Chris Drury's undisputed No. 1 choice to be the next Rangers head coach.
Sullivan was no doubt always Plan A for Drury, as soon as Laviolette was cut loose. The Plan B options probably include names such as Vancouver coach Rick Tocchet, maybe former Rangers coach John Tortorella.
