Sources: Rangers seek to trade Kreider to Ducks
Briefly

The New York Rangers are reportedly in advanced discussions to trade Chris Kreider to the Anaheim Ducks, with the Rangers set to receive a prospect and a draft pick in return. This move would relieve the Rangers of Kreider's $6.5 million annual contract, creating salary cap flexibility ahead of free agency. Kreider, who has a no-trade clause, must waive it to finalize the deal. Both teams seek to bolster their rosters for the upcoming season, with the Ducks under new head coach Joel Quenneville aiming to return to playoff contention after several years.
Kreider, 34, has played his entire 13-year career with the Rangers, drafted in the first round in 2009, and is their all-time playoff leader in goals.
The deal could be done as soon as Wednesday but requires Kreider to waive his trade protection, as he recently added Anaheim to his no trade list.
The Ducks are looking to make big swings to move forward and make the playoffs for the first time since 2018 after hiring Joel Quenneville as coach.
Rangers general manager Chris Drury has been looking for ways to shake up his roster after missing the playoffs, continuing with trades this season.
