Aaron Judge heading to the IL with a flexor strain
Briefly

Aaron Judge has been diagnosed with a flexor strain in his right elbow, necessitating a stint on the injured list. The concern is alleviated by the absence of UCL damage, avoiding the risk of Tommy John surgery. Flexor strains can precede UCL injuries but can often heal with rest. The Yankees plan for Judge to return as a designated hitter and will evaluate the possibility of him returning to the outfield. Concurrently, they will assess Giancarlo Stanton's capability to play right field again.
Aaron Judge has a flexor strain in his right elbow and will go on the injured list (IL). The good news is that the UCL is intact.
Flexor strains can be a precursor to Tommy John surgery, but not guaranteed. Flexor injuries often precede those to the UCL, but can be healed with rest.
Judge will rest and go on the 10-day IL. He might return as a designated hitter, with hopes to play the outfield again.
Time on IL varies based on the severity of the strain. The Yankees will assess Giancarlo Stanton's ability to help cover right field.
