Edward Botwinick, a notable Columbia alumnus and emeritus member of the LDEO Board, passed away on January 24, 2025. He was a key figure in IT and telecommunications, contributing to the development of T-1 networks and multiplexers. Starting his career in semiconductor technology, he co-founded several influential companies, including Timeplex and VideoServer Inc. His leadership at Timeplex helped establish industry standards for data transmission. A dedicated supporter of Columbia University, Botwinick also established the Botwinick-Wolfensohn Foundation, reflecting his commitment to impactful causes, especially in Earth and ocean research.
