More Fathers Are Stepping Up, But Are Stressed About Money
Briefly

A recent national poll indicates that modern fathers prioritize family care and financial support over career aspirations. While traditionally women have borne the caregiving load, recent years have seen an increase in paternal involvement, especially among Millennial and Gen Z fathers who are performing significantly more caregiving duties compared to earlier generations. Despite this positive trend, financial stress remains a significant hurdle affecting men's mental health and their ability to fully engage in family life, highlighting the complexities of modern fatherhood.
Providing for their family (65% said it was extremely important) and supporting their family emotionally and financially (58%) were more important to them than being recognized for their hard work or advancing careers.
Over the last couple of decades, men have increasingly been called to step up as allies to women by alleviating their caregiving burden and supporting their well-being.
Research shows that Millennial and Gen Z dads have been listening and stepping up like never before, doing almost 3 times the amount of caregiving work compared to previous generations of men.
Caregiving and supporting their family at home gives men a sense of purpose and hope, leading them to feel 30% more purposeful than men without children.
