"It's so hard to get kids to brush their teeth,"
"You would think, 'It's just part of the daily routine, it should be easy,' but no-they will resist with everything they've got. A lot of times, as a parent, I have to actually sit there and brush inside my kid's mouth."
Babsy produces a customizable toothbrush inspired by classic toys that encourages children to brush by making the process playful and interactive. Founders Dante Paolino, Zach Gelber, and Marissa Gelber collaborated with New York industrial design firm Leadoff Studio to create the Build-A-Brush concept. The starter pack, available online for $40, includes all components and extra accessories so children can assemble and personalize their brush. Babsy frames pediatric oral care as a design and behavioral-change problem rather than a technology problem, favoring analog customization over electronic gimmicks to lower resistance and increase daily compliance.
