In Moscow, a charity event featured French bulldogs dressed in colorful costumes, aimed at raising awareness and funds to help abandoned dogs find new homes. Organized by the Centre of Assistance to French Bulldogs, the event highlighted the growing trend of adopting these popular breed dogs. Despite their popularity, many French bulldogs face abandonment due to health issues and the responsibilities that come with owning them. The centre successfully re-homes about 700 bulldogs annually, with funds raised contributing to their continuous efforts in supporting these animals.
"It's a trendy breed," said Olga Setina, an administrator at the centre. "Everyone rushes to get them... But they're bulldogs, they've got teeth, they've got health issues, they've got everything. And then people abandon them," she added.
Proceeds from the event will go towards supporting the centre's ongoing work, organisers said.
The centre helps re-home around 700 bulldogs each year. Many of the dogs taking part in the event had previously been rescued.
Dressed in colourful costumes, the dogs strutted down the red carpet at the event organised by volunteers from the Centre of Assistance to French Bulldogs.
