Though Lidl-Trek's Mads Pedersen did not win the Tour of Flanders, finishing second gives him significant motivation for the Paris-Roubaix. Pedersen stayed close to the winner, Tadej PogaÄar, until the final kilometers and beat prominent racer Mathieu van der Poel in a sprint. His performance has led the team's director to consider him a main contender for Roubaix, highlighting optimism despite the competition. Pedersen acknowledges the differences between the races but remains hopeful of securing victory in Roubaix, marking a successful Classics campaign thus far.
"Mads, for me he is the main favourite for Roubaix," Lidl-Trek DS Gregory Rast said after Flanders. "We're really, really, really optimistic... we are really, really happy."
"It is a different race. You don't have climbs and here it's easier for him to make a difference," Pedersen said. "So far it has been a pretty good Classics campaign and I would love to finish it off with a victory in Roubaix."
