A filthy rehoming centre in Crays Hill, Billericay housed 41 dead animals and numerous live animals in extreme filth and neglect. Oaveed Rahman, 26, presented the centre as Save A Paw and took in pets from owners but failed to provide care, leaving animals to suffer, starve, and die. Veterinary surgeon Amy Cooper found rotting flesh, maggot-ridden bodies, rats, faeces in pens, and open food bags inaccessible to confined dogs. Twenty-one surviving dogs and one cat suffered cruelty and confinement. Rahman was convicted of animal cruelty and sentenced to five years in prison.
