Mountain Lion on the loose in Palo Alto

"The big cat was first spotted in the 700 block of North Hampton Drive in north Palo Alto, not far from Greene Middle School. It was later reported in the 1900 block of Byron Avenue in the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, about three blocks from the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo."

"While the mountain lion didn't display aggressive behavior, 'Residents in the immediate area should be aware and keep pets indoors,' police said. Animal Control officers and personnel from the California Department of Fish and Wildlife have responded."

A mountain lion has been spotted in Palo Alto, California, first appearing in the 700 block of North Hampton Drive near Greene Middle School, then later in the 1900 block of Byron Avenue in the Old Palo Alto neighborhood, approximately three blocks from the Palo Alto Junior Museum and Zoo. The animal has not displayed aggressive behavior but is expected to move again. Animal Control officers and California Department of Fish and Wildlife personnel have responded to the situation. Residents in affected areas are advised to keep pets indoors and report any sightings to emergency services.
