It was major news Tuesday morning that a mountain lion had been spotted all over Pacific Heights and Cow Hollow, in a rarity for San Francisco. We may be plenty used to coyotes at this point, and the city is full of raccoons, but apex predator cougars are typically too skittish to wander into the busy city the last known sighting of one was five years ago, in Bernal Heights.

During live coverage of the feline's capture, the ABC7 News reporter Frances Wang was on camera when an unexpected urban resident passed behind her. A coyote calmly walked through the shot, unnoticed as she continued reporting. Video of the moment quickly gained attention for the visual irony of one wild predator being removed as another freely roamed the city streets.

In a news release on Thursday, Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) said that hikers reported seeing a mountain lion near a person lying on the ground on the Crosier Mountain trail in unincorporated Larimer county at around 12.15pm local time on Thursday. The hikers scared the lion from the area by throwing rocks at the animal according to officials, and then attended to the woman but were unable to find a pulse.

A mountain lion was spotted wandering outside the fence of a home in Brentwood, prompting police to issue a warning to residents in the area.
