The King Neighborhood Welcomes Portland's First Upscale Balkan Restaurant
Briefly

Chef Vedran Jordan's Alma restaurant is set to open on June 13, showcasing dishes inspired by Ottoman-era cuisine. Jordan, a Sarajevo refugee, has cultivated his culinary skills at acclaimed local venues. Alma honors his mother and aims to live up to high expectations with a dedicated crew. Menu highlights include imam bayildi, kanpachi crudo, and an impressive selection of drinks designed by Chris Mateja, featuring Balkan liquors like rakia. Alma is poised to become a notable addition to the Portland culinary scene, melding tradition with modern twists.
I feel extremely lucky to have the crew that I have. Currently, everyone is really putting everything they have into it. I really can't be more thankful.
The imam bayildi is a particular highlight in Jordan's mind, a half-roasted eggplant marinated overnight... It's then served with toum yogurt and green zhoug.
