Two arrested for stealing statues from rug store
Briefly

Two men, Faustino Dennis Ayala and Scott William Llewellyn, were arrested for stealing between $150,000 and $200,000 worth of items from the Medallion Rug Outlet in Redwood City. They faced multiple charges, including commercial burglary and conspiracy. The theft, facilitated by leaving a key outside, involved the duo taking four expensive tires and antique statues. Both men have prior theft convictions, making their identification easier for law enforcement. Ayala was arrested at an encampment, while Llewellyn was apprehended at a hospital. Their upcoming court hearing is scheduled for April 17.
On June 1, at 2:30 p.m., Ayala and Llewellyn broke into the Medallion Rug Outlet's garage, where items valued at $200,000 were stolen.
It was neglect of leaving the key outside, said store manager Moe Saeidi, highlighting how the thieves accessed the garage.
Officers recognized Ayala and Llewellyn from previous thefts, emphasizing their criminal history that led to quicker identification and arrest.
According to the DA, Llewellyn was sentenced to eight months in county jail for grand theft prior to this incident.
