European IT professionals fear impact of quantum computing on cybersecurity
Briefly

A recent ISACA survey highlights significant concerns among European IT professionals about the cybersecurity risks posed by quantum computing, with 67% fearing that current encryption will be compromised before organizations adapt. Despite the promising opportunities presented by quantum technology, only 4% of organizations have a defined strategy in place. Chris Dimitriadis of ISACA notes that while quantum advancements may enhance capabilities across various industries, they also pose severe risks to cryptographic practices, with many organizations unprepared for the impending changes.
Given recent quantum advancements and breakthroughs, we can expect quantum computing to be present in our day-to-day platforms and processes within the next years. Whilst this will present great opportunities for innovation in several industries, significant cybersecurity risks emerge both in terms of quantum in a silo as well as through the rise of Quantum AI.
Despite the expected impact of quantum computing, organizations aren't preparing themselves for it. Only 4% say they have developed a defined quantum computing strategy.
