Microsoft cut off Indian company's cloud due to EU sanctions
Briefly

EU sanctions against Russia affected Nayara Energy, leading Microsoft to initially sever service. Nayara protested the sanctions, claiming they were baseless and a violation of India's sovereignty. Microsoft’s cutoff prompted Nayara to seek a court order for reinstatement of services, which was restored shortly thereafter. Nayara subsequently signed an agreement with Rediff for business email services, emphasizing the risks of relying on tech providers tied to foreign laws.
Nayara Energy protested the sanctions in a strongly-worded statement that asserts "This unilateral move by the European Union is founded on baseless assertions, representing an undue extension of authority that ignores both international law and the sovereignty of India."
In a court filing Nayara complained of "unilateral decision taken by the respondent [Microsoft], whereby they have stopped providing the services to the petitioner [Nayara]."
Nayara Energy called for the court to direct the software giant "to continue to provide the services under the Microsoft Business and Service Agreement (MBSA)."
