Bellingham in Madrid squad for UCL clash
"I want to be a bit optimistic, and hope that [Bellingham] can be back before October."
"He's started to do some things with the group, without contact, because we still have to protect the shoulder. But Jude has made a great effort in his recovery ... Let's see if next week he can take steps forward. We're waiting for him."
"Bellingham said he was "fed up" with discomfort associated with the injury, and wearing protective strapping, saying surgery had "been a long time coming" since first dislocating his shoulder in November 2023."
Jude Bellingham has been included in Real Madrid's 23-man squad for the Champions League opener against Marseille at the Bernabéu. He had been absent since July after undergoing surgery for a persistent left shoulder problem stemming from a dislocation in November 2023. Bellingham returned to training last week and has begun non-contact work with the group while the shoulder is protected. Recovery has progressed ahead of initial 10–12 week estimates, creating optimism for a return before October. Surgery took place on July 16, shortly after Madrid's Club World Cup exit. Midfielder Eduardo Camavinga is also fit for the squad after an ankle issue.
