1-year-old revived from fentanyl poisoning twice in one day, California cops say
Briefly

In a harrowing incident in Jamestown, California, a one-year-old child was revived twice within a single day for fentanyl poisoning. The child initially stopped breathing and was treated at the hospital before returning later due to unresponsiveness. Investigation revealed the presence of narcotics and paraphernalia at home, leading to the parents' arrest for felony child abuse. The child was placed in protective custody. Authorities emphasized the risks associated with Narcan, which can wear off, and the necessity of honest communication about drug exposure during emergencies.
Deputies learned the next day that the parents had returned to the hospital with the child later the same day after the 1-year-old became unresponsive, the sheriff's office said.
They arrested the parents, ages 22 and 32, on a charge of felony child abuse and placed the child in protective custody, deputies said.
Narcan is temporary in nature and can wear off while dangerous levels of narcotics remain in the body, deputies said in the release.
