"The department posted a video of the rescue, which involved a rescue boat and a rescue swimmer who went in to put a life-preserving band around the dug and tug him over to the boat. The dog, a German shorthaired pointer, was successfully hoisted into the boat, and we can see him shaking off water and seeming generally relieved. Another good argument for keeping your hunting dog on a leash at all times!"
"The SFFD says they received multiple calls around 2:30 pm Sunday about a dog in the water near McCovey Cove. The @NFL has the Super Bowl today, and #yoursffd has the Super Save! Quarterback FF/PM Jay Weber calls an audible, and KOBE is rescued by Receiver FF/EJ Nave in a stunning play! The play starts with canine KOBE falling into the Bay and getting stuck, with nowhere to go for https://t.co/iJCRuPYXx5 pic.twitter.com/9bt8T6IswP"
SFFD received multiple calls around 2:30 pm Sunday about a dog in the water near McCovey Cove. Land and marine rescue teams arrived swiftly and met with the owner. The owner reported her dog had jumped into the water after chasing a bird and became trapped with no way to escape. The dog swam frantically and became increasingly exhausted. A rescue boat and a rescue swimmer used a life-preserving band to tug the dog to the boat. The German shorthaired pointer named Kobe was hoisted into the boat, shaken off water, and appeared relieved. The rescue was shared in a posted video and social media post.
