About 40 people assembled at San Francisco International Airport to support two Palestinian men, Eid Hthaleen and Ouda Alhadlin, who were detained by federal officials after arriving with valid visas. The men aimed to speak about their experiences in the West Bank and thank supporters from the Jewish and Christian communities. The protest featured songs and signs advocating for their release and addressing broader issues of racism and silencing of Palestinian voices, reflecting concerns about the U.S. government's stance on immigration and human connections across cultures.
We are not afraid, we are not afraid, we will stand for liberation 'cause we know why we were made.
The United States government is now not wanting these human to human connections with people from outside our immediate experience.
They're here on valid tourist visas - it's racism. It's silencing Palestinian voices, but it's something that we're used to.
In addition to speaking at different interfaith events, they were also raising funds for school supplies and a children's summer camp in their village.
