The annual Carnivale gala, held on March 4th at Grace Cathedral, is a vibrant celebration blending hedonism with community spirit in San Francisco. Attendees indulged in a festive atmosphere while reconnecting with familiar faces from the journalism world, sharing stories, and discussing the challenges of the industry. The event showcased significant community values, highlighted by Rev. Miguel Bustos's insights on the cathedral's role during the AIDS crisis, reinforcing its status as a sanctuary for those marginalized by society. Overall, Carnivale emphasized the importance of connection, care, and celebration amidst the formalities.
"Church shouldn't just be a place for solemn religious events - it's a place for community to break bread together," Bustos said.
Carnivale blessed me with good gossipers and genuine connection for two years running.
