Ocean Beach goes full crop circle at this massive sand art gathering
"The vantage point from the Cliff House is typically pretty banal, showing endless volleyball nets and some fog. But the vibe last Saturday was crop circle. A mass of people congregated on the beach with rakes in hand, creating some of the best and most organized sand art I've ever seen. It looked like TikTok-famous 2024 aliens had ditched the cornfields in 2025 to gentrify Ocean Beach - upgrading the coarse, unkempt sand with sprawling geometric patterns."
"As I walked down to the beach I was greeted by a 10-year-old with the presence of an established 40-somethings man - a level of maturity that I have yet to see in the tech bro culture that runs this city. "Can I help you, are you here for the event?" asked KaviAmador. I told the young usher that I was looking for the person in charge and he pointed to his father, Andrés Amador."
Dozens of people gathered on Ocean Beach for a raked sand art event that produced sprawling geometric patterns across the shore. The designs included spirals, peace signs, and sunrays and carried a visible message of "Be Kind." Participants navigated the fragile works with care while recognizing their temporary nature. Andrés Amador coordinated the effort with family assistance, including a confident ten-year-old usher named Kavi Amador. The gathering drew spectators and careful walkers who moved through the pieces, and the incoming tide ultimately washed the sand art away, restoring the beach.
